A
local perspective
A
1991 graduate of UNC's renowned School of Journalism
and Mass Communication, I stayed in North Carolina
and settled in Durham more than a decade ago.
My classwork concentrated in visual communication,
including photojournalism courses, graphic design,
newswriting, photo & news editing, advertising
and storyboarding. I honed my photography skills
at The Chapel Hill Newspaper during and after
college.
I
left newspaper work to care for my daughters
full time, but continued shooting almost daily
for myself, focusing mostly on nature and portraiture.
I continued my formal education taking courses
through Duke's Center for Documentary Studies,
UNC's Multimedia Bootcamp and a course in food
styling for photography at the Culinary Institute
of America.

Experience
abroad
During
an eight-year career with Whole Foods Market,
I served as copy editor, art director and eventually
as national photographer. Specializing in food
and food production, I traveled all over the
US and abroad, including Iceland and Italy, to
tell the story of food producers through interviews,
photography and design.

A
diverse client list
I
eventually set out on my own, and that's where
I am today. I have a growing client list that
includes Whole
Foods Market, Nancy
Frame Design, The
Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau, Snaptotes.com,
Duke University Hospital, Compass
Group & Bon Appetit Management Company, West
Village, Red
Beret Design, At
Your Service, fstopimages.com,
artistbeast.com, and parker
and otis.
In
the field, on the road, or in the studio: my
fees are fair, my work is professional, and I'm
efficient and easy to work with. Art directors
and graphic designers appreciate my own background
in graphic design, as it helps me understand
their needs.
I
currently shoot a Canon 1Ds Mark II. The full-frame,
16.7 megapixel imaging sensor renders unparalleled
detail and size for a 35mm digital. No job is
too big or too small.
